OhioHealth Corporation (“OhioHealth”, “we”, “our”) respects your privacy and is committed to protecting it through our compliance with this policy.

This policy explains our collection, use, and disclosure of your information collected through www.ohiohealth.com (our “Website”). In addition to this policy and in compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 and its implementing rules and regulations as amended (collectively referred to hereafter as “HIPAA”), we will use and disclose your “protected health information” in accordance with HIPAA and our Notice of Privacy Practices available at www.ohiohealth.com/terms-and-conditions.

Please note that your use of our Website and any products or services provided on or through our Website is subject to OhioHealth’s Site Terms and Conditions found at www.ohiohealth.com/safetyandprivacy]. We may make periodic changes to this policy. If such a change is made, OhioHealth will post the revised terms on www.ohiohealth.com/terms-and-conditions and the revised terms will be effective on the “last modified” date stated at the top of this policy.

Information We Collect

We may collect your information in a variety of ways through your use of our Website including when you visit or browse our Website and its pages, register on the Website using myOhioHealth, place an order for a service, subscribe to a newsletter, respond to a survey, fill out a form, pay a medical bill, donate to our foundation, or in connection with other activities, services, features or resources we make available on our Website. The type of information we collect varies and may include:

(i) “personal information” you provide to us through our forms on the Website such as:

  • Demographic information like name, email address, mailing address, date of birth, or phone number,
  • Medical information that you provide to us through our forms or related to the payment of your medical bills through our Website, or through scheduling a facility visit or appointment,
  • Financial information like credit card, banking information, or other payment information that you provide to us or our authorized third party payment processors to make payments or donate to our foundation;
  • Your personal interests such as registering for one of our classes

(ii) non-personal information about users whenever they interact with our Website:

  • We collect computer and internet connection information, IP addresses, operating system information, browser type and version, and network connectivity information, or other non-identifying information stored in cookies that we enable on our Website. A cookie is a small file placed on the hard drive of your computer. Unless you have adjusted your browser setting so that it will refuse cookies, our system will issue cookies when you direct your browser to our Website. We do not track your use of other websites or pages.

While you may visit our Website anonymously, some of the Website’s functions and features will not be available for anonymous visits or if “cookies” are disabled on the your computer/browser. In addition, some of the features and functionalities of our Website may only be available to you if you register for a myOhioHealth account and log into our Website with your username and password. You can refuse to supply your personal information and you are not required to register for a myOhioHealth account, but note that you may not be able to use some of the services available on our Website as a result. An example is our “bill pay” service.

OhioHealth does not share personal information you provide to us through the Website with any third party for any reason except:

  • With our third party software vendors to provide newsletters and other communications that you subscribe to on the Website regarding our products and services, and
  • With our third party payment processors which assist us in processing your bill payment, your payment for classes that you have registered for on the Website, or making any donations to our foundation.

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to others. We may share generic aggregated demographic information not linked to any personal information regarding Website visitors or users with our business partners, trusted affiliates and advertisers for the purposes outlined above.

To the extent you provide or we collect your “protected health information” (as defined by HIPAA), we will only use or disclose such protected health information in accordance with our Notice of Privacy Practices available www.ohiohealth.com/terms-and-conditions/.

 

Cookies

The cookies we place store information about your visit to our Website. Some cookies are “session” Cookies and only last for the duration of your visit. Other cookies known as “persistent” Cookies remain on your computer after the end of each session and store information helpful to your experience. Our Website utilizes both session and persistent Cookies. Every computer that accesses the Website is assigned a different cookie by OhioHealth. Cookies do not retain any personal information or protected health information on your computer. The cookies allow us to access information that we can then use to improve your browsing experience, such as providing you with customized pages based on your past viewing history on the Website. Cookies are also used to help with your log-in to myOhioHealth, as navigation aids or as session timers. Most web browser software can be set to reject all cookies. If you reject our cookies or otherwise disable the cookie feature on your web browser, certain functions and conveniences of our Website may not work properly.

 

Your Communication Choices

You may enroll in various email services to receive information about OhioHealth’s products or services or various health related interests that you select in your myOhioHealth profile. You can unsubscribe to any email service at any time after registration by simply clicking on the “unsubscribe” link at the bottom of any email and follow the specified instructions to opt-out. You will then be unsubscribed from the email service within 10 business days. In addition, by creating a myOhioHealth account, you may be added to our mailing list to receive communications from us related to our products and services. In the event you do not wish to receive these communications from OhioHealth, please change your email preferences editing your myOhioHealth profile. Please note that we may use your email to communicate with you regarding services you have actually purchased on the Website or related to any transaction made on the Website like paying your bills or making a donation. These “transactional” communications will not be subject to your “opt out.”

 

Security

We have adopted reasonable data collection, storage, and processing practices and security measures to protect against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure or destruction of your personal information, username, password, transaction information and data stored on our Website. For example, the majority of the data exchanged between you and the Website or our third party service providers (our third party payment processors) is transmitted over an SSL secured communication channel and is encrypted and protected with digital signatures. Payment Processors

The Site may utilize third party payment processors to perform payment related services for OhioHealth. These third party payment processors collect the necessary personal information such as first name, last name, credit card/bank account number, and other information needed to process purchases/payments on the Site (like classes) or to make bill payments. These third party payment processors’ use of such personal information may be subject to its own privacy policy and terms of use. We only receive information related to the payment status of your account, which does not include your credit card number or other financial account numbers. We recommend that you review any applicable third party payment processor’s privacy policy and terms of use before using those services.

 

Inherent Risk of Using Internet

Despite OhioHealth’s efforts to protect your personal information, there is always some risk that an unauthorized third party may find a way around our security systems or that transmissions of your information over the Internet may be intercepted, and you acknowledge these inherent risks before using the Site.

The safety and security of your information also depends on you. Where we have given you (or where you have chosen) a password for access to certain parts of our Website, you are responsible for keeping this password confidential. We ask you not to share your password with anyone. We urge you to be careful about giving out information in public areas of the Website like message boards. The information you share in public areas may be viewed by any user of the Website.

 

Children

OhioHealth does not offer or provide products and services for children to access or use via the Website. If you are under eighteen (18) years of age, you may not use the Site. OhioHealth does not intend to collect personal information from children through the Website. If your child has submitted personal information and you would like to request that such information be removed, you may contact OhioHealth via one of the contact methods described below, and OhioHealth will promptly remove such information and shall not use such information.
