Imagine waking up in the middle of the night, unable to breathe or call out for help. It happened to Patience. Later she learned she had a serious heart problem.
Patience had atrial fibrillation (a-fib), or irregular heartbeat, and a clot in the left atrium of her heart.
“My atrial valve was malformed,” Patience said. “You are supposed to have three pieces that open and close, and I only had two.” So Anish Amin, MD, an OhioHealth physician specializing in a-fib, and his team set out to discover what was triggering Patience’s a-fib.
“She’s strong-willed, and we knew she was going to have a great recovery,” Dr. Amin said. “She’s a perfect example of somebody who’s doing her part, doing rehab, making lifestyle modifications, and at the same time has access to great care and is able to get a great result.”
“I’m really feeling good,” Patience said with gratitude in her voice. “I love Dr. Amin.”
