Get outdoors for earth day 2025

Ready to show your love for mother earth? Tuesday, April 22, is earth day — a day to show your appreciation and support for the planet that sustains us. How are you going to celebrate?


Local Earth Day activities

There are a lot of ways to celebrate Earth Day. If you’re an activist, you can participate in a demonstration. If you’re a gardener, you can plant some flowers. You can also just take some time to enjoy and appreciate the beautiful world we live in. Simply getting outdoors is a great place to start.

But if you’re looking for some official Earth Day activities, check these out:

2025 Kids as Planet Protectors: an Earth Day celebration

April 19th, (10 a.m. – 2 p.m.) Grange Insurance Audubon Center – This event offers a variety of projects to help kids take action to protect the environment. Activities geared towards kids ages 2-12 will include learning about composting and renewable energy, COSI Science Live, upcycling activities, window clings to prevent bird strikes, tree planting, and so much more.


Earth Day: Columbus

Join the largest volunteer-driven service event for Earth Day in the country. This is a month-long event, so anyone can find some time to get involved.

Cleanups: April 4th-27th

Beautification and community gardens: April 4th-27th

Tree plantings: April 11th-27th

Community science: April 25th-28th

Celebration: April 27th, 11am-7pm at Scioto Audubon Metro Park


Earth Day weekend

April 26th and 27th, Columbus Zoo and Aquarium — celebrate mother earth while learning how to make better choices for the planet and all its living creatures. This two-day event will feature live entertainment, activity booths hosted by local environmentally focused organizations, character ambassador meet-and-greets, and more!


Pickerington Earth Day celebration

April 26th, 9am-3pm at Combustion Brewery and Taproom. Join hundreds of friends and neighbors of all ages picking up litter throughout Violet Township. You can also participate in removing invasive plants from local parks and nature preserves and planting hundreds of trees!


Earth day crafts with Worthington Libraries

If you have little ones, crafts may be more up your alley. Plus this one is on the 22nd, so you could stay in for fun crafts this day and go out and participate on Earth Day as well. On April 22nd, 4pm-5pm, the Old Worthington Library will host Earth Day themed crafts aimed to educate and inspire young kids about caring for our planet.


Earth Day program with King Arts Complex

April 19, 10am-3pm at the King Arts Complex. Programs will focus on sustainability, urban gardening, green spaces, waste reduction, and advocating for policies that protect the environment while addressing racial and economic disparities. The goal is to inspire community action and ensure a healthier future for all, especially in areas that have been historically neglected or impacted by environmental harm.
