Glamping It Up in Ohio

Ahh, camping… Fresh air. Peace and quiet. The beauty of nature… Bugs. Sleeping on the ground. And “you want me to go the bathroom where??”

If you enjoy nature’s beauty but aren’t quite the “roughing it” type, glamping may be your answer. You get all the necessities, like indoor plumbing, electricity and a comfy bed, inside a cozy little cabin, treehouse or yurt. If you’re ready to camp like a diva, check out some of these local glamping spots.

Nomad Ridge at the Wilds (Cumberland, OH)

Looking for a relaxing, adults-only getaway? Nomad Ridge at the Wilds offers private yurts for a luxurious camping experience. The Asian-inspired décor creates a relaxing ambiance, with bamboo floors, solid wood doors and beautiful bedding. You’ll have the comforts of home with a refrigerator and coffee maker, climate control, private bathrooms and even free Wi-Fi, while nestled in the serenity of nature.

Packages include breakfast, dinner and an open-air safari. They also offer add-on experiences like horseback riding. And just to be sure you get the most of your stay, a concierge is at your call 24-hours a day.

The Mohicans (Glenmont, OH)

Whether you’re wanting a romantic getaway for two or looking for a whole family affair, check out the Mohicans. Their fully furnished cabins can accommodate eight to 15 guests. And you’ve got to see their treehouses! All accommodations offer amazing views, indoor bathrooms, kitchenettes, climate control and more.

Hocking Hills (Hocking Hills, OH)

Hocking Hills has something for everyone. You can choose from countless cabins, cottages and lodges to create your perfect experience. Whether you want your stay to be relaxing or action-packed, Hocking Hills will not disappoint!

Clay’s Park Resort (Lawrence, OH)

If you want to get a little closer to the “roughing it” experience without sacrificing comfort, this 500-acre resort offers cabins with electricity and a cozy place to rest. Showers and bathrooms are a short walk away, and there’s a country store and restaurant nearby. During summer months, you’ll have free access to miniature golf, swimming, a water park and kayaking.

Hueston Woods State Park (College Corner, OH)

Hueston Woods offers a variety of lodging options. There’s one yurt with a refrigerator, microwave, TV and DVD player. They also have a selection of cottages that sleep from four to six people. All cottages offer living, dining and sleeping areas, as well as private baths. If you’re looking for more of a “hotel-like” experience, you can reserve a room at the Hueston Woods Lodge & Conference Center. The lodge includes a dining room, game room, lighted tennis court, and indoor and outdoor swimming pools. No matter which accommodations you choose, you’ll be immersed in the beautiful natural surroundings and have access to hiking, fishing, swimming and more.
