Run, Jog, or Walk: Spring Races to Get You Moving

Spring marks the start of race season for both runners and walkers across Ohio! After spending the winter training indoors, racers across the region look forward to getting back outdoors to accomplish their fitness goals. Check out five races to fill up your spring schedule!

1. Arnold 5K

Sunday, March 8, 2020 | 9:15 a.m. | Columbus, Greater Columbus Convention Center

This race is part of the annual Arnold Sports Festival, where more than 22,000 athletes from around the world compete in various events. You don’t have to be a pro athlete to run in this 5K! After you’re done, you can get into the festival for free to watch the 80+ events going on, from baton twirling to arm wrestling with many things in between, you’re sure to find something that interests you.

 

2. Scioto Miles

Sunday, March 8, 2020, 8 a.m. | Sunday, March 29, 8 a.m. | Columbus, Genoa Park at the Scioto Mile

This series lets you choose how much you want to run while taking in one of the most scenic parts of downtown! You can choose to run a 5K, 10K or 15K, and if you sign up for both dates, you get a pair of Brooks shoes. There will also be a free half-mile run for kids 12 and under, so the whole family can get running!

 

3. Athens Ohio Marathon

Sunday, April 9, 2020 | 8 a.m. | Athens

People have been participating in the Athens Ohio Marathon for over 50 years! Billed as “Ohio’s Longest Running Marathon,” get an up-close look at scenic sites like the Ohio University campus and Hocking River Valley while you get re-acquainted with outdoor running.

 

4. Capital City Half Marathon

Saturday, April 25, 2020 | 8 a.m. | Columbus, Downtown

The Capital City Half Marathon has races for runners of all distances and experience levels. Recognized as one of the premier races in the Midwest, this event brings out everyone from professional marathoners to first time 5K walkers! There’s also plenty of family friendly fun to keep your supporters entertained while you move through Downtown Columbus.

 

5. Susan G. Komen Columbus Race for the Cure

Saturday, May 26, 2020 | 9 a.m. | Columbus, Downtown

Heading into its 28th year, the Susan G. Komen Columbus Race for the Cure has become a destination event for runners, walkers and families looking to take the fight to breast cancer. Thousands of participants will get decked out in pink clothing and accessories to help raise money in support of breast cancer research at this race. We’d love for you to join us on Team OhioHealth!

 

6. FORE! Miler

Thursday, May 28, 2020 | 7 p.m. | Dublin, Muirfield Village Golf Club

Excited for the Memorial Tournament? So are we! This four mile run tees off around parts of the golf course and you also get an official race shirt, a finisher’s medal, a free practice round ticket and free admission to the Post-Race Party and Concert!

 

7. Columbus 10K

Sunday, June 8, 2020 | 8 a.m. | Columbus

In its 43rd year, the Columbus 10K is considered one of the oldest races in Ohio and “The Oldest Road Race in Columbus.” Registration includes a finisher’s medal and t-shirts, and there’s also a race just for kids, so you can get the whole family involved!

 

8. MommyMile Columbus

Sunday, June 14, 2020 | 9 a.m. | Columbus, Polaris Fashion Place

Families come together at Polaris Shopping Center to celebrate motherhood, at the MommyMile Columbus! This 5K run and 1 mile walk is more about having fun than competing, and it gives families a chance to celebrate motherhood. Dads, children and other relatives are encouraged to show support for moms by joining them for the race before heading into the mall for a little shopping.
