The hustle and bustle of the holiday season is just around the corner. Soon enough, your days (and maybe nights) may be taken up with cooking, cleaning, shopping, planning and celebrating. While it can be a fun and exciting season, it can also be a bit draining. So, now’s your time to give your personal battery a little extra charge. A fall self-care day can do just that.


How to rest before the holidays

You know the madness is coming. So why not carve out one day before the holiday chaos begins to nurture yourself? This is not a day to be productive. It’s a day to rest, tap into your calm and do the things that bring you joy. A pre-holiday wellness day can fuel you for weeks to come, so you can sail through this holiday season relaxed and recharged.

We’re all unique. Things that nourish some of us don’t have the same impact on others. That’s why your fall wellness day should be customized to best suit you. Here are a few suggestions for you to choose from for your special day.

Get intentional rest 

Many of us tend to get stuck in “high-performance mode.” We may even feel guilty taking time for relaxation or fun. But not only is it OK to take a break, it’s necessary for our wellness and it tends to enhance our productivity in the long run. Get some extra sleep, lounge on the couch, and read or watch comfort shows. Your intention for the day should be “rest.”

Destress by decluttering

We all have stress, and we all have our own ways of managing it. Does it make you feel better to have your space organized? Then do a small organization project or a digital detox. Just make sure you only do it if it truly feels relaxing to you, and not like a “should do” task.

Move your body … or don’t 

Does a long walk in nature sound appealing? How about a yoga session, a massage or a hot bath? Whatever makes your body say, “aaaah” is what you should do.

Nourish your body

You know what screams “cozy”? Devouring a delicious soup after being enticed by its aroma wafting from the slow cooker all day. If cooking is what relaxes you, you could also treat yourself to a day of cooking whatever you want, with no concern for time.
