Should Immunocompromised Individuals Get A Booster Dose?

Joe Gastaldo, MD system director for Infectious Diseases explains everything known so far about third doses.

Anybody who is considered moderately or severely immunocompromised should receive a third dose of their vaccine.

Vaccines do not work as well on immunocompromised individuals. So for someone who is immunocompromised, when they’re at least 28 days out from their second dose, they should receive a third dose of either the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine.

Currently, there is no Johnson & Johnson vaccine extra dose for those who are immunocompromised.
