Why Should Those Vaccinated From COVID-19 Wear Masks?

Joe Gastaldo, MD, System Medical Director of Infectious Diseases at OhioHealth recommends that everyone follow CDC recommended masking guidelines. If you live in an area of high or substantial transmission of COVID-19, you should be wearing a mask indoors in the public and outdoors when you cannot physically distance. That is regardless of vaccination status.

The issue is a combination of a delta variant and lower antibody titers. You don’t know who is vaccinated or where people are with their antibody titers when out in public.

The delta variant is more transmissible, which means those who have it are more contagious. There are more people out there with low antibody titers, which is believed to be one of the reasons why we are seeing more breakthrough infections.
