Will There Be Another Vaccine Later This Year?

Joe Gastaldo, MD, System Medical Director for Infectious Diseases addresses the common question of whether we will have another booster sometime this year.

He says, we do not know yet. The CDC, FDA and other experts in public health will make a decision based on real world data. Specifically, they will look at COVID hospitalizations, likely in those who are most vulnerable.

Toward the end of the year, potentially, there may be a recommendation for an additional booster though likely not for everybody.

There may be a recommendation for senior citizens (those above the age of 65), healthcare workers, and those with other medical conditions. Right now, though, there is no further recommendation for people to receive an additional booster, outside of immunocompromised individuals.
